EAS Executive Committee elections 2023
Call for nominations – deadline March 01, 2023

The EAS Executive Committee is the elected governing body responsible for the running of the Society. Its members determine the scientific direction of the Society, and are responsible for strategic planning of EAS activities and the Society’s financial management.

In 2023 we are looking for new active and engaged members to join this Committee and invite you to put forward your proposals to fill the vacant positions as detailed below:

  • President-Elect (2024-2028) 
    During 2024 the President-Elect will work alongside President Kausik Ray, as a supernumerary member of the Executive Committee, taking on the Society Presidency on January 01, 2025 for a term of four years.
  • Executive Committee member (2024-2027)
    Executive Committee Member replacing outgoing Officer Prof Philippe Moulin, France

We are looking for enthusiastic and engaged members of EAS who would like to become more closely involved in the organisation of the Society’s activities. 

Nomination step-by-step

  1. Candidates may be proposed by an EAS member who has obtained the written consent of the nominee.
  2. For the candidacies to be considered by the Election Committee, the nominator also need to provide:
    – Short CV
    – Nomination letter (please upload the documents in the online nomination form)

Nominations are made through the online form, available to logged in EAS members.

Election calendar

The timetable and procedures for 2023 elections to the Society’s governing body, the Executive Committee.

January 16 – March 01Nominations welcome from EAS members for candidates for the vacant position in the Executive Committee
April 01 – April 30Election Committee review the nominations and make a shortlist of candidates
MayAnnouncement of the shortlisted candidates with biographies on the EAS website
June 01 – June 30ELECTIONS – EAS individual (full) members vote (online ballot, via Society website)
JulyThe result of the vote is verified by independent reviewer, approved by the Executive Committee and announced to the Society membership

Review

The names of the candidates replacing the retiring officers or ordinary members of the Executive Committee may be proposed by an individual member who has obtained the written consent of the nominee. The nomination should be completed by March 01, 2023.

The nominations will be reviewed by an Election Committee, who will select from them up to five candidates to stand for election for each position, based on

a) qualifications and suitability for the position (compared with the profile for the ideal candidate)
b) geographical spread of candidates and existing Executive Committee members
c) gender balance

Voting

The candidates that will stand in the election will be announced in May 2023. Voting is held via a website-based ballot, June 01 – 30.
A member of the society is selected by the Executive Committee to monitor and review the election result for accuracy.


Members’ General assembly 2023 – save the date!

All individual members are cordially invited to the Society’s yearly formal meeting, where the Society’s Executive Committee report to the membership on the past year’s activities, and present their strategic planning for the coming period.
Be an active member and shape the Society’s future—join the meeting on Tuesday May 23 at 17:30 CET, held at the EAS congress in Mannheim, Germany.
